Yesterday was my birthday – 41, in case you were wondering. This pic is of my eldest, Ella, and I at dinner last night (nothing like being the mum to a teenager to make you feel old ?).

Now I’m not the most introspective person you’ll ever meet, but my birthday did give me cause to reflect a little on whether I’m living my best life and all that – as the kids of today would say ?

And after at least 12 seconds of reflection (I’m deep like that) I came to the conclusion that I’m pretty happy with my lot – but there are still a lot of things I want to do. I’m content but not satisfied as the saying goes!

Workwise, after nearly 10 years as a PT – and more than eight years after forming Goddess – I still LOVE what I do. I love the women I train (both in person and online) and seeing them improve, grow in confidence, smash their goals, find a love of exercise and form lifelong friendships with their fellow Goddesses.

I also have big things in store for Goddess in the next year! In the coming months I’ll be rolling out a brand-new program, specifically for women 40-plus who are frustrated by their inability to lose weight, no matter how much they exercise or how little they eat. This one is going to be lifechanging for the women I coach – I’ll have more details to share very soon so stay tuned!

From a personal perspective, I always want to make sure I’m walking the walk when it comes to my health and fitness. This year I made my comeback to competitive netball – playing in the second-top division (against a lot of girls less than half my age) and I am LOVING it! I’m still playing rep touch footy as well (plus a bit of tennis) and I’m really enjoying getting back into the strength training too.

I’m doing about 7-8 sessions most weeks (either games or training) so it’s hardly elite athlete level – though to some that might seem like a lot. It definitely keeps me busy and I love it. But trust me when I say I do not always feel motivated or inspired to go those sessions. Sometimes I would rather sit on the couch and watch Netflix for a change.

But what gets me there is that I don’t want to let myself down. I don’t want to get to my 80th birthday, when I can no longer do the things I love doing now, and say “I could have, should have, would have….” But I was too lazy/ unmotivated/ tired to do it. I don’t believe in having regrets but I know if I don’t push myself to be as healthy, fit, strong and competitive as I can be now, then I will definitely regret it later.

And because of that I can honestly say I’m feeling fitter and stronger at 41 than I ever have. And if I can do it, you can too. It’s not too late and you’re not too old. You just have to decide.

I want to know from you – are you showing up the way you want to? Are you living to your full potential? Or are you putting it off/ pushing it aside because it’s too hard or too time-consuming or you’re too tired or too busy?

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to get to the end of my life and think, what if I had just put in the effort back then? How would my life have been different? How would my kids’ lives have been different?

You don’t need to wait till your birthday to have a little self-reflection. Decide now – how do you want to feel? And then go after it. You won’t regret it, I promise.

If you need help figuring out WHAT it is you should be doing to reach your goals, I’m here for you. Book a call here and I’ll help you figure out a roadmap for finally reaching those goals, whatever they are.
